Today we went to Johansen Farms with Isaac, Josephine and their escorts. The farm had pumpkins, barn animals, a hay maze, giant slides and fresh baked pie. We had a great time although it was very crowded. I think it must have been Field Trip Day because there were 8 buses parked outside and uncountable groups of people walking towards us in long lines while holding hands. It kind of felt like one enormous game of Red Rover... plus hide-and-go seek with a toddler whose favorite hiding spot is putting his hand inside of a donkey's mouth.
Here is Christine showing Isaac some kind of short camel.
This must be some kind of record--a baby and a goat posing for a picture at the same time.
James was having so much fun. I loved seeing him so excited!
The kids all loved the rabbits! By the way, the only warning signs up for ANY of the animals was this one about the rabbits who stayed at least ten feet away from people at all times. Meanwhile, over at the donkey pen people were putting their kids over the railing so they could sit on the donkey's back. Rabbits will bite, donkeys will trample, whatever.
James loved the rabbits so much that he pulled himself right up on the fence.
When we were walking away we told him that the rabbits go "hop hop" and
he thought we had said "hot." So he dramatically turned around and
began to blow on the rabbits with all his might! He did not want those
rabbits to be hot and if he could help it, he would.
James also enjoyed the hay maze and had no problem going straight through.
Towards the end he had worked up a sweat and wanted to take his hat off...
And he finally found his way out...
James is very independent and didn't mind at all if I were watching or not when he'd run around the farm. That was kind of scary to see him take off so easily but really fun to watch him have such a good time.

James looks like he finally grew into his jacket -- so cute!
ReplyDeleteHurry up and come to Dallas!
Noelle, his jacket is perfect for this winter--I'm so glad we have it!
