Last weekend we and a group of our friends went to the hometown of Todd Warren - Ludington, Michigan. You'll most likely recognize this place as the fifth most popular tourist city in the state (according to Wikipedia). Having never been to the preceding four, I place this town at number one of Michigan cities I've been to. (Jokes aside, Todd, it really is a great place).
The first day there we went to eat at a local brew pub and also stopped at a local festival. There was a remote control dog dressed as a Michigan cop who caught James' attention. He likes dogs fine, but I won't blame him for being a bit freaked out by this one. When it asked him if he knew how to dial 911 he nearly started crying.

The sun comes up there around 5 AM, so James thought that would be a good time to get up. Since everyone else thought that 9 was an appropriate time we had to take James to the beach. You can see that Katie was thrilled.
James is a natural-born beach bum (like all the other Poleys).
I, on the other hand, am averse to skin cancer, so I try to avoid the sun.

Ludington has one of the last remaining coal powered ships that ferries people and cars across Lake Michigan to Manitowoc. We watched it come in one afternoon.
After listening to a few Al Gore speeches, James was showing some concern for the environment when he saw the burning coal pour smoke out of the chimney. I made him feel a little better by explaining how rotten oil company executives like his grandfather Paul 5 billion years ago created an even worse global warming catastrophe that killed off all of the dinosaurs, enabling us to burn their dead bodies in the form of coal and oil today so that we can go to places like Ludington and have lots of fun. He felt much better afterwards.

There's some magnificent cliffs that drop off into the ocean above the city that we went to look off of.
